It’s true ‘We are what we eat’
Good nutrition forms the building blocks of all of our working parts! These include our skeleton, muscles, brain tissue, blood cells, nervous system, chemical processes and metabolic functions that all determine how well we age and perform on a daily basis.
Of course, the best place to start begins in the womb and the mother’s food habits and choices can truly determine the ongoing health of her child once born. (For more information please refer to pre-conception care)
Most of us don’t really understand our own nutritional needs. We have some idea of what we should eat but all too often we are unsure whether our daily eating habits cover even our most basic needs. Nutrition is poorly covered in standard medical teaching and with the plethora of fads and diets it is confusing to know whom to trust for reliable information.
Your nutritional consultation will focus on you rather than a prescriptive ‘eat like this’ attitude and you will be educated on the basic requirements of the body together with sources of nutrition. You will also learn the effect on your body of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in terms of both weight control and nutritional support.
If you are constantly feeling low in energy, suffering from headaches or generally feeling below par then it may be worthwhile looking at your diet.
I will guide you in practical and achievable ways in which to enhance your eating habits without you having to miss out on your favourite foods!
